Residential Services focus on acquiring and retaining the skills needed in the home. Services range from intermittent to 24-hour support to individuals in personal care and independent living skills.
Knox Estates: A 16-bed intermediate care facility for adults with developmental disabilities. Opened in 1981 near Engle Lane Theater, both Knox Estates and Fitzsimmons House are sited on 10 acres of land donated from the Bessie Knox estate. Operated under the Federal CMS and Illinois Department of Public Health regulations, we proved 24-hour care and support.
Ralph Plumb and Fitzsimmons Houses: Both residences are regulated by the Department of Human Services as Community Integrated Living Arrangements (CILAs). Ralph Plumb House is an 8-bed home within walking distance of the downtown Streator area. Fitzsimmons House is a 4-bed home across from Knox Estates. People living in these homes are encouraged to develop and use their abilities for housekeeping, laundry, cooking, and personal finances with staff assistance.
Shabbona Street Apartments: Located six blocks form Streator City Park, this 8-unit apartment complex was established along with Ralph Plumb House as a residential project funded by the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Opened in 1991, Shabbona Street Apartments has four, single bedroom and four, two-bedroom apartments. Some but not all people residing here also get client and family services funded by the Department of Human Services.
